SHELTER HOME 4 (KAJANG) Our
Beginnings Shelter,
a registered voluntary organisation, was set up in June 1981 to cope with the
escalation of child abuse and neglect cases in Malaysia. From an initial group
of five abandoned children on one, we now operate four homes with more than 80
children and teenagers under our care while our kindergartens provide free
learning opportunities to another 250 children living in squatter communities. Shelter
4 (Kajang) The
girls are in need of protection from abuse, neglect & poverty. They attend
secondary schools, receive support & guidance OUR
MISSION
Services
- Community Services Department Working
among the less privileged in our community, Shelter helps promote child welfare
& prevent child abuse by providing kindergarten & tuition classes, &
through community education. Other services include financial & welfare aid,
job placement, cottage industry, counseling, legal advice & medical clinics. Family Services Unit
We
provide telephone & face-to-face counseling for teenagers & their
families. Our aim is to keep families by helping to resolve conflicts &
fostering understanding among the family members. Resource
Center
Public
education and staff development is part of Shelter’s work. The center keeps
abreast of development in social work among children and families through
