Rumah Sri Ramakrishna Ashram
Established by Dr. Rama on 11th February 1962, is a shelter home for orphans and children from very poor family background or broken homes in 1991, a bungalow located at 451, Jalan Tengkera, Melaka, became our permanent rental building for our activities. At present we are still renting the building.
In
the Ashram, the children are provided with food, education, accommodation,
clothing & medications free of charge and presently has 50 orphans under our
care.
Other
than caring for these children, the home also organised a few camping and
motivation activities in Port Dickson & Cameron Highlands, etc. for youth.
The home hoped that by such activities, these youths are motivated in various
aspects of life so that they may grow into useful citizens of the country,
giving them a real chance for a better future.
In
other parts of the society role in achieving the greater height in religious
& community service, the movement has also collected funds for patients with
various health problems.
As
a non-profit society, the Ashram purely survives on goodwill & support of
devotees & the public & with the future plans has targeted to provide
shelter for about 100 needy and poor children.
The
Ashram had also established a girls’ home in Rawang, in August 1999 this year
catering especially for orphaned girls. There are 6 pupils currently & could
accommodate up to 10 for the time being.
Sri
Ramakrishna Ashram also had embarked to establish a centralized welfare centre
in Rawang in the near future under the name of “Sri Ramakrishna Ashram Welfare
Centre”. The total budget for the plan is estimated at RM 4 million.
As
the Ashram is managed by volunteers and a handful of full time staff, we value
every opportunity & attention given to us to make life more pleasant &
meaningful for the needy children.
